Question

Our client's website detects the user's browser version and recommends update if the browser is not the latest version. Our synthetic test needs to fool the detection. How can we do this?

Response

You can specify the User Agent version for a Backbone test in two ways:

  • In the Dynatrace Portal, use the User Agent setting in the Advanced Settings tab of the test configuration. For details, see the help page Backbone Test Settings.
The User Agent works the same whether it's configured in the Recorder or the Portal. A user setting configured in the Portal overrides the Recorder setting.
