Symptoms
We see an error "403 Client Error - Forbidden". What does this mean?

Solution
A 403 error is a standard HTTP error, as opposed to a Dynatrace Performance Network error. When a host server receives a page request that it understands but refuses to fulfill, it returns this error code. In most cases, this means one of two things:
  • The root document was not available and the server was preventing you from accessing a directory listing.
  • The web server did not have the required permissions to deliver the requested document.

See the HTTP 1.1 specification for additional information.
