When I filter by Hosts in the Interactive Chart, the Average Response Time changes much more than I expected.

Root Cause
Different calculation methods are used in regular charting vs. filtered charting.

When the Host filter is applied, the response time of failed tests is factored in the average, so the average response time in a filtered chart may be different than in the unfiltered chart.

For example:

There are two test runs:

  • One run is successful with a response time of 5 seconds.
  • The other run failed with a timeout error; the response time is 30 seconds.

In an unfiltered chart, the average response time is 5 seconds, because the failed test run is not included.

When the Host filter is applied, the failed test run is counted, so the average response time is  (5+30)/2=17.5 seconds.
