This report shows which software services use the most bandwidth and lists details for all software services.

Access alternatives

  • On the CAS, select Reports ► Explore ► Traffic discovery, then click Discovery - Services, and then click Discovery - Software services overview

  • On the CAS, open the Dashboard and click the Application health status tile.

    And then click the Software services Software services icon . This icon is inactive if there are no alerts to report.

Report contents

This report has three tabs:

  • All services – This is the default tab. It shows are software services, whether user-defined or automatically discovered.
  • User-defined – This tab is restricted to just those software services that were defined manually.
  • Discovered – This tab is restricted to just those software services that were automatically discovered.

Besides these basic differences, the three tabs are essentially the same.

The graph at the top of all three tabs (Total bandwidth usage for top 5 software services) compares the top five software services in terms of bandwidth usage.

  • If you are looking at the User-defined tab, these are the top five user-defined software services in terms of bandwidth usage.
  • If you are looking at the Discovered tab, these are the top five automatically discovered software services in terms of bandwidth usage.
  • If you are looking at the All services tab, these are the top five software services (whether they were automatically discovered or user-defined) in terms of bandwidth usage.

The table under the graph displays the following for each listed software service:

  • Software service
    Click a software service name to open a menu of additional report options:
    • Software services
    • Servers
    • Traffic details
    • Configure user defined software service
  • A
    This column appears only on the All services tab. A green check mark green check mark in this column indicates that this row's software service was automatically discovered. Otherwise, it's blank.
  • Requests breakdown
    Shows requests at a glance. Click a value to see a breakdown of the requests into:
    • Slow operations
    •  Fast operations
    •  Aborts
    •  Failures (total)
  • Slow operations
    Click a value to filter the graph by that row's software service.
  • Application performance
    Click a value to filter the graph by that row's software service.
  • Operation time with breakdown
    Click a time to see a breakdown of operation time by:
    • Server time
    • Network time
    • Idle time
    • Other time
  • Availability (total)
    Click an availability percentage to see a breakdown of the total availability percentage by:
    • TCP
    • application
    • transport
  • Failures (total)
    Click an failures total to see a breakdown of the total failures by:
    • TCP
    • application
    • transport
