    the plugin can be used also as a sample about how to :

    • use the REST API from Java (including authentication);
    • extract a binary (here PDF) file from a HTTP response;
    • send an e-mail with attachment;
    • check for plugin parameters;
    • write a plugin that can be used both as a task and an action.

    Hi Laurent,

    I have been trying for the past couple of days to get this plugin to work but with no luck.

    Couple of questions:
    1. Do the DT servers have to be bounced after this plugin is installed for the plugin to work?
    2. Is there any sort of documentation related to the plugin for how to make it work?
    3. Is there a way to send a dummy e-mail to test the plugin functionality before linking it to a dashboard?

    Thanks for your help!

      Hi,

      see my comments in the forum's thread.

        Thanks Laurent! After reading your configuration tips, I was able to get the plugin working (smile)

        Quick question, can the plugin send e-mails to multiple users? And if so, should the e-mails be separated out with commas or semicolons?

          The current implementation only deals with one recipient.
          You may circumvent this limitation by creating a mailing list...

    plugin just tested successfully also on dT 5.0 (smile)

    I've added the ability to use a semi-colon list of recipients (see update in the forum's thread)

    Plugin is not sending any data for "Text and measurement" type of dashlet. I would need this type of data to be sent.

    Hi,

    I fear it has to do with the reporting capabilities of dashboards and not the plugin itself...

    Hi,

    I'm using this plugin to send out a report of a specific dashboard, and when I try and open the PDF, I get the message 'Adobe Reader could not open 'tempReport.pdf' because if is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example it was send as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).'

    Could this be an issue with the plugin or our mail server?

    Hi,

    the plugin is using the REST interface to get the PDF report. Check first if you can open the same PDF through the web interface.

    You could also try the more recent and versatile "extended email plugin" which provides also this capability.

      Thanks Laurent,

      I have tried the plugin you're referring to but I'm having issues getting that one to fire all when the alert is triggered. I'm using the same SFTP and server login settings.

      How can I open this PDF through the web interface?

    To generate a PDF through the REST API, use the following from any webb browser :

    https://<server>:8021/rest/management/reports/create/<dashboardname>?type=PDF

    See Dashboards and Reporting (REST)

      Thanks, I remember trying this before but had issues due to my account.

      I was able to generate the report after putting the server info and dashboard name, so it seems to be working through the browser. Does this mean there may be an issue from the SMTP server side in handling the decoding of the report, or could there be an issue with the plugin still?

      ******EDIT - I got this to work. Of all things it was my login password to Dynatrace server. Somehow the email was still going through, but maybe because it could not authenticate correctly the PDF was not correctly uploaded?
