dynaTrace Mobile Client

Mobile Android Client from one of Partners

Icon

One of our partners implemented an Android Client which provides even more functionality than our first version of the mobile client. Check it out on Google Play: dynaTrace Powerpack

The dynaTrace Mobile Client allows you to view predefined dashboards on your mobile device. You only have to specify the address of your dynaTrace server, enter a username and password and you get a list of all dashboards.

We have prepared 3 things for you:

For feedback please add a comment to this page.

Installation Instructions for Manual Installation:

To install the Mobile Client on your device please download the enclosed dynatrace Mobile Client-1.0.1.apk and copy it on your device. Before running the installation please check the settings of your device to "Allow installation of non-Market applications". The setting can be found on your device under settings->applications. By tapping on the file in a file explorer on your Android device it gets installed. The Mobile Client by default shows you the HTML-Report format of the dashboards. As this does not fit very well to the mobile device resolution and as the transfer size of the page is very big, there is an additional reporting plugin available.

To install the Report plugin please use the dynaTrace client. The necessary dtp-file is enclosed com.dynatrace.diagnostics.report.mobilehtml.plugin.dtp.

ATTENTION: The plugin cannot be uninstalled via the dynaTrace client. To uninstall stop the dynaTrace server and delete the folder "server\conf\plugins\com.dynatrace.diagnostics.report.mobilehtml_x.x.x.x".

Can someone please post how to configure this on the server side?

    1. Anonymous (login to see details)

      Hi Eric,

The server side configuration is simple. By default you do not have to configure something on the server side. The only thing you have to make sure that the REST interface of the dynaTrace server can be reached. I would recommend a Web server that passes through only the REST calls. A REST call URI always contains "/rest/management/reports/" or "/rest/management/dashboards". If you take care about security I would restrict calls via the Web Server on URIs containing this pattern only.

If you want to have nicer dashboards you can install the plugin attached to this page via the dynaTrace client.

        Hi Claus,

I have a very vague idea about DT (smile) I can't really understand what to do next. I can see the installed mobile http plugin and that's about it. Any chance you can guide me thru the process.

        Thanks,
        Leo

Priorities are wrong guys. iOS first, Android second. (smile)

      Hi Mark,

iOS is ready but we are still discussing with Apple about the value of the App (smile) - Apple thinks it is not of valuable for our customers.

In the meanwhile have fun with Android. (The better mobile OS! (wink) especially for developers)

      Andi,
To which dT Server is your mobile client connecting?
And is there a dTuser on that dT Server that matches the credentials you are using?

      1. Anonymous (login to see details)

        Hi Joe,
It’s the default credentials that come with the download: https://mclient.dynatrace.com
        User: mclient

          Team,
I'm also experiencing problems trying to connect, although my symptoms are slightly different, i'm also on iOS, not Android.
I'll ping someone and see if they can look into it.

FYI - Our main guy on this project is currently out of office but back mid of next week. So - we probably need to wait for a couple of days longer to get an answer on the open questions

          Hi,

it looks like the permissions for "mclient" were a little off - they should be fixed, could you give it another try?

          Thanks
          Wolfgang

        Link is broken here.

  10. Anonymous (login to see details)

Just looking for some confirmation on configuration. Based on what I have read here and about REST the mobile client communicates to the dynatrace server on ports 8020 or 8021 depending on http or https.  Is that correct?

    1. Anonymous (login to see details)

Correct. In the dynaTrace Server Settings Dialog you can specify the SSL and Non-SSL ports. 8020 and 8021 are the default ports that we use

Hi There. mclient public server is not reachable (it seems that every request to *.dynatrace.com is redirected to cpwr apm main page...)

Is there any alternate way to connect? different URL or Public IP?

    Thks

I'm attempting to install the application on my ipad and am getting a certificate used in signing this application has expired.  Is there a new build for the iOS app?

    1. Anonymous (login to see details)

      Hi Brian

We are currently having some issues with our certificate that we try to resolve. There is no new build in the moment. We do however have a partner who uploaded their version of a dynaTrace client to the Google Play store - I know - its Android and not iOS - but - just in case you want to take a look at it

      Andi

Any update on getting the cert fixed?  Thanks!

Do you have a date/time for the new build?

    Thanks!

    Hi.

Are there any news about an iOS version of the dynaTrace mobile client? A customer would really like to have it, even in an unsupported way

    Thanks!

    1. Anonymous (login to see details)

Yes it is supported in the same way with version 6 which is now the current version.

  18. Anonymous (login to see details)

Thank you Eric. But it is not on the iTunes store. Do you know how to get it?

    Thank you!

Hi,I found in the apple store ""Compuware Mobile APMaaS". does it for dynaTrace mobile or for Gomez SaaS?

    1. Anonymous (login to see details)

Compuware Mobile APMaas is an app for use with Gomez.

  20. Anonymous (login to see details)

Is there an iOS app available to work with dynaTrace (to view PurePath data, etc.)? Not interested in integration with Gomez or DC Rum. Based on reading the description of "Compuware Mobile APMaaS", it is for DC RUM. If not, is it in the works and when is it's expected release?

    1. Anonymous (login to see details)

      Hi Rob

There is no mobile client to view PurePaths. What we are investing in right now is putting more focus on our Web Dashboards / Web UI. First iteration were the Web Dashboards in 6.1. We are putting more features into the Web UI. A great discussion on the planned features can also be seen here + feedback is also welcome on which features you would like to see: Planned Enhancements for WebDashboards

The good thing about these Web Dashboards / Web UI is that they are implemented on HTML5 - optimized for Touch-enabled Devices
