Any options for monitoring MS Copilot agents?

Hi,

We have some agents developed using Microsoft Copilot Studio that we'd like to monitor with Dynatrace. So far the only option i have found involve sending Copilot Studio telemetry to another service, Application Insights and then ingest into Dynatrace. If we want to avoid using Application Insights, are there any other options to monitor the agents in Dynatrace?

Note: I'm aware of Github Copilot SDK Monitoring, which looks great, but it doesn't appear to works with MS Copilot Studio Agents.

Hi @jlcaam

There's no direct Copilot Studio-to-Dynatrace path today — Application Insights is still required as the intermediary.

DT AI Observability natively supports the Microsoft Agent Framework, which has built-in OTel support, traces and metrics are emitted automatically. The catch is this applies to agents built on Azure AI Agent Service, not directly to Copilot Studio's low-code canvas. But if you can wrap or migrate your agents to this framework, it's the cleanest path.

OR Instead of Application Insights, you could potentially configure an OpenTelemetry Collector to receive telemetry from Copilot Studio (if you can redirect the telemetry endpoint) and forward it to Dynatrace's OTLP endpoint. This keeps everything in the OTel ecosystem without the App Insights hop.

Also confirming your read on GitHub Copilot SDK monitoring, that's for the GitHub Copilot ecosystem, not applicable to Copilot Studio agents.

All right. I don't think we can redirect Copilot Studio telemetry endpoint... so the App Insight hop is required unless we go thru the path of adding multiple http actions in different places of the agent to ingest some details, not sure what is available, in Dynatrace as logs. Modifying the agents is not something i can do so i'll stick with the main approach.
