What is default alerting profile?

Hi community,

Was wondering if anyone can enlighten me about the function of this default alerting profile?

If I configured a custom alerting profile for an extension, do I need to delete the severity rule of custom alert in default alerting profile? because it seems to have multiple alerting profiles triggering on the same problem.

The default alerting profile just alerts on all problems. AS you mentioned you can have the same problem alerted via multiple profiles though, which can be quite useful.

The alerting profile generated no alerts by it's self though, it needs to be referenced in a problem notification rule. So as long as you use your custom alerting profile there, you should only get one notification for the problem. No need to delete the default profile.
