How to add to mq queues to management zone, can someone help me with MZ rule ?

I need to create queue depth alerts for queues in particular mz but alerts are not triggering since queues are not added in mz rules, i am using queue name in event filter while creating metric event, is there any other way to create queue depth alerts without adding queues to MZ.

Hey @Sisapy09

The management zone filter when creating a metric event is only optional (unless you only have access to a specific MZ) so you do not need queues to be in a management zone to create alerts for them. If you want more help, can you provide some more information? Like screenshots or the details for either the management zone rules for the queues and/or the metric event rules?

IMO you can always use the entity selector to pick the desired queues, for me the first step is always to check the entity selector from the data explorer to see it collect the entities for example:

and from here it a bit easier to use it in the entity selector in the MZ side

I only have access to MZ, and when I create metrics with the MZ selection, the metric event queues do not display any details. If I don't select MZ, the queues are visible, but due to permission restrictions, I'm unable to save the metric event. In the MZ rules, custom device placements include queue manager names, so I'm wondering if there’s a way to create queue depth alerts using the existing rule setup

You may utilize the Generic Type, which is available in all extensions, as the matching type for Entities, such as Entities matching type("ibmmq:remote_queue").

I'd recommend reaching out to whoever manages the MZs in your environment to have them investigate and fix this. I'm not sure why they aren't showing up but since you only have access to that MZ and by the looks, are unable to modify it, it's out of your hands to resolve.
