Let me start with my one and only ultimate favorite book from my early years, iconic "Le Petit Nicolas" written by French duo of René Goscinny and Jean-Jacques Sempé, in Poland known as simply "Mikołajek". When I was a little boy, I got so used to listen to tales from that series during the bedtime, that I could not fall asleep without it...

One of my most read childhood books was "The little Dragon and his friends". I never gave that one away and still kept it as a childhood memory in my bookshelf.

Pelle Svanslös was a beloved part of my childhood growing up in Uppsala. He’s a kind-hearted, tailless cat who always stood up to bullies with courage and kindness.

His adventures through familiar streets and neighboring towns made it especially familiar, and I still smile when I pass the places tied to his stories.

I'm from the generation that waited for that Hogwarts letter, but in the meantime, there was another book series that stole my heart: "The Series of Unfortunate Events" by Lemony Snicket.

I liked how dark, twisted, and yet hopeful and funny those books are. They treat their readers like adults, and there is NOTHING a child craves more than this (boy, how it changes over age...). Both the movie and Netflix TV series are amazing, so if you're looking for something to watch with your children, you should definitely give it a go!

I really loved Enid Blyton's books. My favorite was The Five Find-Outers, series, with FAT and the other four children always outwiiting Goon , the policeman 😂

I had no idea it was a book series, too! I used to watch the TV show as a kid, and I vividly remember hiding under the blanket every time the dog's eyes transformed in the opening scene 😅

Hi,

I spent a good part of my childhood reading books so the choice isn't that easy 🙂

I will leave 3 book series that I read young and still look back at them fondly and re-read them every now and then:

1) Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl. Loved all the characters and the whole fairytale aesthetic:

2)Brian Jacques's Redwall series(though I have read only the first 2 books). Speaking animals embarking on perilous journeys facing dangerous foes, put the roots of fantasy deep in me.

3) Jonathan Stroud's Bartimaeus Trilogy. The premise and plot was very interesting, but what has stayed with me is the hilarious humour of the main character.

"Kamarát Čipko" (My Friend Čipko) by Slovak author Anton Hykisch and illustrated by the famous illustrator Peter Kľúčik (also Slovak).

Čipko is a chip. Written from the perspective of a small boy, the main character discovers that Čipko has the power to remotely control devices, and this seems like magic to him.

Only today do I realize that this was my gateway to sci-fi and cyberpunk literature 🙂

Here are some of my favorites from childhood days, most of these books are now digital only or converted into a animated television series 😇

'Chacha Chaudhary' by Pran

It was about Chacha Chaudhary, the smart elderly man with his clever mind, and his strong friend Sabu, their funny adventures and smart ways to solve problems.

'Tintin' by Herge

Tintin was about a brave young journalist, and his loyal dog Snowy on thrilling journeys around the world, solving mysteries and meeting fascinating characters.

Panchatantra

Panchatantra is a timeless collection of moral tales passed down through generations. With its imaginative use of talking animals and clever storytelling, it was very capitative for young kids

This is a timeless book. I’ve read it several times over the years, with the last time being about 2–3 years ago. What fascinates me is that each reading reveals something new, as if I were discovering it for the first time. Perhaps it’s the perfect moment to read it again. 🙂

I don't hear too many people talking about this series, but as a kid (yes I was a kid in the early 2000s) I would fly through these adventurous stories.

Well, I think the Musicuentos were revolutionary for their time. They came with a vinyl record to play, adding music and songs to the story — they were truly innovative.
Also, the Asterix series, and the collections of Robin Hood classics and Choose Your Own Adventure were significant too.
