Creating a metric that is a combination of two other metrics

Hello,

I have created two calculated service metrics for a service.

Number of requests (split by an attribute)

Number of errors (split by the same attribute)

I would like to create a relative comparison (like we had in NAM)

"relative number of errors"= "number of errors" / "number of requests"

Is this possible?

Calculated metric which is going to solve exactly that use case is planned for somewhere in the near future. @Michael K. for the current planning and if there already are details which can be shared.

You can do that now on a dashboard with the Powerup extension

Hello Bill,

Looking at the discription of the PWR ext, I only see a "This powerup compares a Single Value Tile (SVT) to another SVT ?

Is this what you were referring to?

Hi Henk,

as already mentioned by @Mike L. we are currently working on a feature that will allow to perform basic arithmetic operations (+ - * /) on top of existing metric (queries) , so the use case you mentioned above will be addressed by this.

The current plan is to release this feature in the second quarter of 2021

Any Update on this ? I want to derive value from two related metrics. Two sequential services need to pass to say overall flow is passed.

Hi,

Creating new metric like this is not possible at this time.

BUT< in the data explorer you can use arithmetic expressions C=A/B or others.

So, you can display in Dashboard or use the arithmetic expression in Metric Event...
