Hello community!

We are planning to manual instrument customers mobile application.

There are limitations - https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/technology-support/operating-systems/android/legacy-documentation/instrumentation/dynatrace-auto-instrumentation-for-android/#limitations

You can't instrument Android App Bundles

Customer use this feature.

So i have question:

Is there limitation "Android App Bundles" if we instrument APK manually?

I think that there is this limitation only for auto-instrumentation. So, if we plan to do it manual, we can don`t worry about it.

Correct me if i wrong, thank you.

Regards,

Alexander

Hello Alexander,

You linked the documentation of the 7.x version of the plugin. This version was replaced by the 8.x version, which is capable of auto-instrumenting Android app bundles. Because the manual instrumentation process is time consuming, you should first try out the new plugin version and see if it fits your requirements.

I think that there is this limitation only for auto-instrumentation. So, if we plan to do it manual, we can don`t worry about it.

Yes, manual instrumentation with the 7.x agent is not affected by the mentioned limitation, because they only apply to auto-instrumentation. You find the limitations for manual instrumentation (7.x version) on this page. If you want to use manual instrumentation, then you should also use the 8.x version.
