Dynatrace installation error - MSI installer output contains errors

I tried to install OneAgent by using the installer on Windows server 2012 R2 (64 bits). However i came across this error while extracting the installer before the installation process. Please help if you have encounter this problem before.

Hi TEOW,

looks like your Windows installation is corrupted as msiexec is missing. msiexec is an important part of Windows Installer (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-commands/msiexec).

You need to fix your OS.

May i know are these possible solutions for the issue: https://appuals.com/fix-msiexec-exe-access-denied-error-installing-programs/

If possible we would like to prevent restarting the server, any way we can fix the issue without restarting?

Hi Qin,

Unfortunately I cannot provide you with exact steps or confirm that the above method will work for certain.

For sure the Windows Installer needs to be fixed. If it is simply disabled / unregistered then it of course makes sense to amend these problems before attempting full reinstallation.
