Free Tier Custom Metrics Process?

Hi,

I'm trying to get an understanding of how Custom Metrics are calculated under each Tenant. Based on the Support ticket raised there seems to be no documentation as of yet but this is what my queries are:

Custom Metrics Calculation

Formula - 10*Host Units +100*Tenants

Suppose it translates to 5100 Custom Metrics under Free Tier and you have 7 Tenants.

Questions

CMs are unique values captured over a period of time for up to 28days per the statement

1. How are CMs captured

2. Is there a way to define When, What and How CMs should be captured under each Tenant?

3. What's the underlying Algorithm written to capture these values

4. Can unused CMs under Tenant A be shifted to Tenant B, C if there are overages

Appreciate if someone shed thoughts on the above.

One way of capturing custom metrics is defining custom network device and pushing metrics to Dynatrace via api. Generally I’m also not totally familiar with the way how custom metrics works in general and I will be glad to get some explenation 🙂
