DataPower monitoring - What is use case of Log Target monitoring?

I am monitoring IBM DataPower Gateway using Dynatrace extension. Under further details in the device, there is a tab labelled "Log Events" which lists Processed, Dropped, Pending within each Log Target.

This page seems to be very rich of data, but curiously, what is the use case of monitoring this information? The number of events does not seem to directly correlate to number of transactions. Perhaps DataPower users can share how to use these data of Log Events perspective.
