Has anyone figured out how to determine the location of a Dynatrace cluster or tenant without having to ask Dynatrace directly?

The Dynatrace Health Status reports sometimes mention location-related issues, and I’d like to identify whether these might impact us without relying on Dynatrace support. I’ve already tried asking DT Chat, but they didn’t have an answer. I’ve also searched through the APIs, DQL, and the environment settings, but haven’t found anything useful.

Any thoughts or ideas? If not, I will open an RFE.

I asked Davis CoPilot and said it can't be done:

Where is my tenant located?

Unfortunately, there is no direct way to determine the location of your Dynatrace tenant without contacting Dynatrace support. If you are experiencing location-related issues, I recommend reaching out to Dynatrace support for assistance.

My environment resides in AWS Ireland. The GET request to the API returns for me:
<LI-CODE lang="markup">[
  {
    "name": "US East Virginia"
  },
  {
    "name": "US West Oregon"
  },
  {

  {
    "name": "AP Southeast Sydney"
  },
  {
    "name": "Australia East"
  }
]</LI-CODE>
I'm not sure what it means, as it is not a comprehensive region list (the best source is here), nor the list of regions my environments are running in.

As a Dynatrace CSM, I get this question often. My response for the customer to check for themselves is the following:

The answer to your question right now is the following:

Public approach to determine so:

DNS lookup on the tenant's domain name to get the A records: https://gsuite.tools/dns-lookup

For example:

IP geolocate one of the A records to determine its reverse hostname: https://gsuite.tools/ip-location

I hope this helps.

Hi Kenny, first, it's great to hear you have copilot now 🤣.

I know I'm late to the party here but I've always used nslookup as @AntonioSousa suggested and had good luck. There are 2 parts of the response that I've seen support mention depending on the situation. Most often they'll provide the impacted region. The cluster from our previous employer and my current employer have both been hosted in AWS using the us-west-2 region. Occasionally, support shares the clusters within a region that are impacted. This information comes right after the region and may look something like Antonio's example where the Cluster-UUID is: prod13-ireland. It's important to note that you need to use 'live' not 'apps' in your nslookup to get this information.

I've also found this information when downloading a support archive to my Mac... I get a file called "download details.txt" with the cluster UUID (no region though), and another file called "cluster.properties" where you'll find both the region and the cluster UUID embedded in URLs for each node in the cluster.

I voted for your RFE as well. It's always bothered me that we have to hunt for this information. Happy hunting my friend!

~Alvin
