Infra‑only OneAgent: Custom host properties set via --set-host-property not displayed

Hello All,

I’m running Dynatrace OneAgent in infra‑only mode and tried to configure custom host properties using the --set-host-property flag, for example:

--set-host-property=Environment=NONPROD
--set-host-property=Owner=Container-Orchestration

However, these properties are not showing up under the “Properties and tags” section of the host overview in Dynatrace.

My questions are:

Is this the expected behavior for infra‑only mode (i.e., custom host properties not supported)?
If so, what’s the recommended way to surface these properties in Dynatrace when using infra‑only agents?
Has anyone successfully used --set-host-property in infra‑only mode, or is this feature limited to full‑stack deployments?

Any guidance or confirmation would be greatly appreciated.

Also we are using terraform to deploy infraonly and passing this as args.

args:
- --set-app-log-content-access=true
- --set-host-property=Compliance=None
- --set-host-property=Environment=${oneagent_deploy_env}
- --set-host-property=NodeType=Worker
- --set-host-property=Owner=${oneagent_owner}

Hi,

Scroll down in the host view, I think they are added as metadata in the bottom.

And you can create auto tagging rules also, if you want those as tags.

I checked, but no metadata is showing for Infra-only. I can see it for Full stack, but not for Infra-only.

Hi,

Maybe is about terraform way or syntax. You can ingest host properties or host tags using oneagentctl, no matter is fullstack or inframode.

tried that as well, still no luck. Form host it is showing but in DT it is not showing

As I read Kubernetes... Which mode has OneAgent? Infra mode or PaaS mode? Can you share host properties in the Dynatrace UI?

this one is Infraonly, this one not showing metadata

I can see already your properties in the bottom on your screen, NodeType, Compliance... Metadata is there as expected.

yes but that is for fullstack server, server 844 is not showing metadata, in configuration it has same metadata as server 840

If you have 2 hosts, with same OneAgent version, with same OneAgent mode and one is working and another not, I would open a support ticket.

From your screenshots it seems that both (840, 844) agents are in full-stack mode.

ya even i am checking why it is showing sa full-stack in dt, but server 844 is configured as infraonly

this setting has been changed a few versions before, actual is (https://docs.dynatrace.com/managed/shortlink/oneagentctl#infrastructure-monitoring😞

--set-monitoring-mode=infra-only

in fact, it was previously "--set-monitoring-mode=infrastructure", setting you use was used even before 😉
