What metric to measure loading of element after page is loaded

I have a page where I want to measure how long it takes to display some hidden content on a page that has already been loaded. The idea is that after the user clicks the button - the system performs a search and the rest of the page content is then displayed. What is the best metric to use? Is there any info on this or video? Thanks

The best metric to use is the Visually complete.

Visually complete is a point-in-time metric that measures when the visual area of a page has finished loading.
