Agent installation on AIX fails

Hi,

Customer installed the OneAgent on an AIX host without any issues.
Then copied the installer to another AIX host and runs into an issue:

/opt/dynatrace/oneagent/xzdec: /opt/dynatrace/oneagent/Dynatrace-OneAgent.tar.xz: There is not enough memory available now.
tar: Unexpected end-of-file while reading from the storage media.
2026-05-12 08:43:35 UTC [ERROR] Decompression with /opt/dynatrace/oneagent/xzdec failed. Installation aborted. Possible root cause:
2026-05-12 08:43:35 UTC [ERROR] * insufficient disk space
2026-05-12 08:43:35 UTC [ERROR] * installer file is corrupted
2026-05-12 08:43:35 UTC [ERROR] * there is not enough memory available to unpack the installer
2026-05-12 08:43:35 UTC [ERROR] * antivirus software blocks /opt/dynatrace/oneagent/xzdec execution

Anyone seen this before, or has any ideas what could cause this?
They confirmed there is enough disk space and memory, the installer file is not corrupted (they redownloaded a fresh copy) and there's no anti-virus on the host...

@andre_vdveen what is the OS version for this one failing?

One of my clients are facing the exactly same issue, and support mentioned about the OS version, which is still not supported. AIX VIOS 4.1.2

@dannemca apparently both hosts are on AIX 7.2

@andre_vdveen also happened to one customer of ours - the ulimit on these hosts is too low (data segment size), so either set this to unlimited or increase it to a reasonable value so that the installer can run xzdec.

Thanks, @Julius_Loman , that resolved the issue. I have checked the ulimit before, but only changed the open files...

Hi @dannemca ,

Recently I also face same issues.

Affected Servers: AIX Version 7.2 TL5 SP10
- The OneAgent upgrade to version 1.337 is failing on these servers.
- The installation logs indicate possible causes such as antivirus interference, disk space, or other environmental factors. However, we could not identify any explicit antivirus blocking event in the logs.
Working Servers: AIX Version 7.2 TL5 SP11
- We tested the same OneAgent version (1.337) on servers running AIX 7.2 TL5 SP11, and the installation/upgrade completed successfully.
