From Dynatrace:

Connectivity is presented as two separately calculated metrics:

Connectivity Percentage of properly established TCP connections compared to TCP connections that were refused or timed out. Refused connections is a ratio comparing session resets to new network sessions.

Local connectivity Percentage of processes that establish TCP connections in other processes on the same host. Such connections don't generate network traffic. To keep the Connectivity value accurate, Local connectivity is treated as a separate connectivity metric.

So to put it simply, when on a process and looking at "Connectivity" you will see the metric related to that Process.... where as "Local Connectivity" will refer to the connectivity on the host and the other processes, this allows you to understand if your connectivity is a problem on a single process, or if it is impacting other processes on the given host.

Note: The Connectivity measure can be used as an indicator of whether there's network traffic on a host. Note, however, that 0% connectivity doesn't necessarily indicate that there is a problem with a host. Assuming no TCP errors are present, it may simply mean that no users have attempted to connect to the host process during the selected timeframe.

OneAgent Host processes. Connectivity and Local Connectivity.

Hello:

I have a question.

When Dynatrace reports on windows server processes, It provides for 2 network connectivity metrics:

"Connectivity" and "Local connectivity"

Odly, we started seeing on only 1 process (an IIS process INETINFO.EXE ) showing Connectivity % as 0.

My question is.

What is determining these metrics?

Is the dynatrace one agent watching the TCP sessions like a "wireshark" and noting TCP connection timeouts?

OR

Is this a metric already calculated by Windows OS and Dynatrace is simply "reporting it"

Which method is being used when reporting "Connectivity"

Thanks,

-Runatyr

What we expect when operating normally

What we are seeing currently and want to find out what is calculating this?-->
