topic How to use naming rules for external calls and also isolate requests going to external domains by their sub domains? in Open Q&A

In our environment for a particular web request, we have calls going to preprod.NNNN.com and prod.NNNN.com and there are also different web requests to these external services.

1) I want to be able to break out performance of each subdomain's separately and add it to dashboard their own dashboard.

2) I want to use Generic Web Request naming rules to apply on external call as well. So I can group same/similar requests together and also mark relevant transactions are key transactions. Somehow, I dont see that option being available.

Hi,

The way to do this is to monitor a third party domain as a separate service. See how this works here: https://www.dynatrace.com/blog/monitor-3rd-party-s...

It then is a regular service with all its features.

Best

Mike

Thank you for the answer .. I was able to break them out request by request, however, doesnt look like Dynatrace can break it out by sub-domain... Guess I can live without it ..
