topic OneAgent space utilization requirements - clarifications requested in Open Q&A

I need a few clarifications regarding disk space usage on LINUX. Our sysadmin team is concerned with installing to the default location (i.e., /opt filesystem) and is concerned about potential OS impacts if space runs low. My specific questions are:

1. The total space requirement is given as 5.4 GB of which 3 GB is “recommended free space for runtime data”. Can somebody clarify whether DT guarantees that no more than 3 GB of space will be consumed and that the overall space use will never exceed 5.4 GB?

2. If space starts to run low on /opt is there any throttling of use (e.g., for logs) or automatic cleanup to reduce the space utilized?

3. The space given is for FULL STACK. What are the requirements for INFO mode on Linux?

4. If users take memory dumps do these result in additional storage space under /opt and, therefore, potentially increase usage above 5.4 GB?

5. If we use log analytics does that result in additional storage space under /opt and, therefore, potentially increase usage above 5.4 GB?

Based on my experience:

Yes - only logs are "dynamic" and they do rotate and are also pruned

Correct

I did not measure but it will be the same as you can switch between fullstack and infra mode anytime.

Memory dumps are, of course, not included in the 5.4GB limit.

Monitored logs are not stored in the oneagent directory, but are shipped out almost immediately.

The doc page that covers this is: https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/technology-support/operating-systems/linux/installation/disk-space-requirements-for-oneagent-installation-and-update-on-linux/

This page mentions that Memory dumps are included in the 'runtime data' estimate which comes out of the 3G portion.
