We instrumented extensions with the SDK a few times so it should work. If you're relying on the OA injection for communication it won't though as the plugin agent is listed as do not inject.

Instrument ActiveGate Extensions with OpenTelemetry?

OpenTelemetry metrics for Python is available:

https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/extend-dynatrace/opentelemetry/opentelemetry-metrics/instrument-for-metrics/opent-python-metrics

Got me to check the support for traces, and yes it's been there for some time:

https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/extend-dynatrace/opentelemetry/opentelemetry-traces/opentelemetry-ingest/opent-python

Got me wondering if someone has managed to instrument something like an ActiveGate extension???
