topic Logging from an ActiveGate v1 extension directly to Dynatrace? in Extensions

I have tried to figure out how to log from an ActiveGate extension v1 directly to Dynatrace Logs, and not to local files on the ActiveGate. We can upload metrics, topology, events, problems and some more things, but it doesn't seem logs are an option. They are available in Extensions v2, though. Might I be missing something, or do I have to use the API?

You have to use the API for that. To make it easier you could route the API call via the ActiveGate where the extension is running.
