topic User session time-out? in Real User Monitoring

Hello,

Below anonymous session, called anonymous but 4 sessions have a user tag.

I have seen remark/question before, (but never a good answer)

I think this session times out (in Dynatrace), but real user session continues after 30 minutes or more.

So creating a new session in Dynatrace but never passing the "tagging page" again.

Does anybody have an idea how to fix this? Can we set a timer so the session stays active in DT?

KR Henk

You can setup to us persistent cookied in Application Settings. Then user identificator will be stored in browser.

Sebastian

Hi Sebastian

Was already on, and Dynatrace also recognizes this persistence cookie. But it seems that he also overwrites the user tag with anonymous....

Hi Sebastian,

Or should I add this cookie in the user tag? (is the username in the cookie?)

KR Henk

Hello, sorry for delay. In general if users are using the same browser, without incognito mode and has accepted storing cookies on page, this should work and auto detect user name even for new session. Dyanatrace doesn't store user name anyware on client side. Thay may be only ID of user that can be resolved by dynatrace into user name on server side.

Sebastian
