Hey Jamie,
Thank you for your feedback. Here is a short update:

We are aware of this inconsistency in the OneAgent for Mobile release process. We forwarded your feedback to the responsible teams. At this point I don't have any detailed information.

We will update this post, when we have more information about how this inconsistency will be addressed and when you can expect some changes.

Release notes for the Android SDK

Bundling release notes for the Android (and iOS) OneAgent SDK with the rest of OneAgent is causing a lot of headache.

The OneAgent Mobile SDKs are updated more frequently than the overarching OneAgent suite of products, which means release notes aren't available immediately. This is problematic when using dependency management tools like Renovate or Dependabot, which will open pull requests as soon as the artifacts are available. We can't accept new versions with confidence until we're aware of what's changed - particularly important with version 8.319.2 of the Android SDK, which fixes a prolific crash we've been experiencing.

This is causing a real problem for us, and I'm sure other consumers are also feeling similar ways. When releasing software for others to use, it is an absolute necessity that this software comes with release notes. This is especially important in this case, as this software is closed source, so the diff can't be analysed when there's an urgent need to upgrade. Please consider decoupling your release notes for individual artifacts from the overarching product release schedule.

Hey there,

A nudge on this issue - it's still a problem, and still something that blocks our ability to keep the Dynatrace SDK up-to-date in our projects. We had a number of Renovate pull requests open for our projects yesterday to update to 8.325, which we'll have to leave open until your release notes documentation updates. The previous release is still marked as planned, too.

Please consider decoupling your release notes for individual artifacts from the overarching product release schedule.

Hey Jamie,
I can confirm now that the OneAgent release notes will be separated. In the near future, there will be a dedicated page in the What's new in Dynatrace section that will only cover the OneAgent for Mobile release notes. The publish date and the state information will be aligned with the OneAgent for Mobile binaries.

For version 325, the release notes for the different OneAgent are still combined. The ETA for the dedicated release notes page will be the next release (version 327) or the one afterwards (version 329).

Starting with version 8.327, there is a dedicated release notes page for "OneAgent for Mobile". The release notes are published here.

This page will be updated based on the OneAgent for Mobile release schedule. In the future, a draft version will be published that announces the upcoming changes in the next version.
