Hi everyone,

Is there any limitations on number of public synthetic monitors for dynatrace managed other than license? Does it require any hardware requirements for the publicly available cluster activegate?

When would I chose synthetic-enabled cluster activegate over environment activegate?

Hi Amr,

thanks for reaching out. Currently there is a limit of 5000 synthetic monitors per environment. It does not matter if the monitors are running from private or public locations.

If you are using the Cluster ActiveGate only for receiving synthetic results from public (dynatrace hosted) locations this are the hardware requirements - https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/setup-and-configuration/dynatrace-activegate/installation/activegate-hardware-and-system-requirements/

If you want to use the Cluster ActiveGate as private synthetic location, have a look here https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/how-to-use-dynatrace/synthetic-monitoring/private-synthetic-locations/system-and-hardware-requirements-for-private-synthetic/

If you use a Cluster ActiveGate as a private location it can serve multiple environments. (read more about that here https://www.dynatrace.com/news/blog/deploy-private-synthetic-locations-easily-and-cost-effectively-with-dynatrace-managed/)
If you use a Environment ActiveGate as private synthetic location it is only available for one environment (1:1 mapping)
