SLO - Best Practise

Hi Team,

I have a question for you guys if you could share your experience in using SLO for environmental reporting for your clients? I have an issue right now to best measure the entire very large environment and I would like to do it as well as possible.

I would appreciate your valuable comments:)

Hi @radek_jasinski,

as SLO comes along with SRE, the best is using "Four Golden Signals" as a base.
https://sre.google/sre-book/monitoring-distributed-systems/ shows full explanation with examples.

Then You can obviously go with additional business specific ones as You gather them.

Thank you for the materials you shared, they will certainly be valuable to me. Have you come across the option that you can set working hours in our SLO? I haven't found a clear answer. (I assume I can handle this with Maintenance Window, but there is no such option in the direct SLO configuration).

You should take a look at - https://github.com/dynatrace-ace-services/slo-simply-smarter
Get that setup on your environment and see how you feel and think about what JLL has done here. - I use this at my client as a starting point and it's really nice to show people the 'Art of the Possible'

This SLO Simply Smarter also uses best practice's from Google - is has some links.

Maintenance Windows only work for an SLO, where the metric uses them I.E: builtin:synthetic.browser.availability.location.totalWoMaintenanceWindow
