Automatically triggered workflows based on event

Hi,
I have built workflows for SRG validation and want to trigger this workflow based on event/bizevent.

Can somebody please guide me on how to write conditions in workflow and how this works automatically?

Do I have to leave workflow always in a running state? Or whenever a matching event occurs, the workflow gets automatically triggered??

You can and should trigger your workflow using an event if possible, the workflow won't be in a permanent "running state"; it will execute the actions whenever an event arrives that matches your conditions. Quick example:
