Hi,

Could someone tell me if a host discovered by Dynatrace is automatically mapped to an already discovered host in ServiceNow or it appears under a new name?

For example, let's say we have a server called "dev09" which appears in the "Servers" list in ServiceNow under Configuration -> Servers -> All. Dynatrace discovers the same server but gives it the following name "dev09.example.lab" under the "Hosts" table in the Dynatrace application in ServiceNow.

Will "dev09.example.lab" be merged with "dev09" and I will only see "dev09" in the "Servers" table in ServiceNow or I will see two different table records?

Thanks,

Stan

In that case you will get two different hosts. If you change the name of the Dynatrace host to 'dev09' AND you define a 'CI identity rule' on the ServiceNow side those two hosts will be merged into one. This mainly depends on the ServiceNow 'Identification and reconciliation framework'.

Hi Wolfgang,

Thanks for the answer. Could I also do what you explained in the "CI Mapping" tab in the Dynatrace application in ServiceNow. Could I use this "CI Mapping" to tell Dynatrace to map the already discovered server "dev09" to the Dynatrace discovered server "dev09.example.lab"?

If this is possible where can I see the Dynatrace ID of the discovered server "dev09.example.lab"?

Yes thats also possible. Just disable the CMDB sync and manually map your already discovered host with the dedicated Dynatrace host id (e.g.: HOST-123213213).

Would that also work if I keep CMDB sync enabled? If I disable the CMDB sync that would affect the applications and processes.

How do you manually change the name of the Dynatrace host? Isn’t the host name defined when OneAgent is installed?

Go to the host settings and override the auto-detected host name.
