I also provided feedback to Dynatrace on Billable hours. Much like we have availability percentage on hosts and monitored entities, it would be wise to have a "Monitored Hours" segment. Which wont be reset by way of a restart. This will help you average the hours per day, week, month, year which will help you forecast costs as well as provide bill back on those entities.

Hi All,

A quick question regarding how to know the allocation license for open shift with DPS in Managed.

Classic model, we based the calculation on the HU of the nodes.

Is it the same or changed (I can see for SAAS, it's based on pod hour) but nothing clear for Managed.

Thanks

It's really going to depend on your contract. If you are still using host units, a host unit is per Year. So lets say your Host unit costs you $500 Per year.... you can use that host unit on any host. Be it Host 1 is alive for 3 months and then you use to it monitor Host 2 for the next 9 months.... same would apply for a container - as long as your Ratecard/contract doesn't include a a unit of measure - Like Per hour, Per GB etc..

@Malaik as per https://docs.dynatrace.com/managed/shortlink/dps-hosts , it's based on GiB-hours for OneAgents in general.

For Full stack modes (classic/cloud native) it's very similar, especially when you monitor them 24/7. For applicationOnly however the consumption is based on used memory instead of memory limit, which could make a pretty difference.

Thanks for your replay,

For me still not convinced 100% because before i can estimate how much this will cost to the customer/application owner.

Now as based on GiB hours, we can not know before instrumenting the application, how much this will cost.

Probably you expect 100% uptime during a year.

If you use applicationOnly, then you need to get the average memory of the pods instrumented by OneAgent and calculate that.

If you are still in doubts, please reach out to your Dynatrace sales representative or sales engineer to estimate it for you.
