Is there any advantages in installing OneAgent as an Openshift daemon set vs the traditional Linux istaller on the host machines ?

Hi @Rejith R., there is! OpenShift is a container application platform, so from this perspective, deploying OneAgent through a container image makes perfect sense. On the other hand, users may not always have access to the cluster's underlying nodes to roll out Dynatrace OneAgent via the traditional Linux installer, which is another good reason. Instructions on how to deploy OneAgent through a container image can be found in help.dynatrace.com.

If you do have access to the cluster nodes though, using the Linux installer is perfectly fine. You may also leverage our Dynatrace.OneAgent Ansible role from the Ansible Galaxy if you're looking into larger deployments.

Thanks @Martin E. That makes perfect sense. In terms of visibility, will the container image approach give more metrics on OSE platform? We tried Linux installers once. But as you said container images are the way to go !! Will change it tomorrow 🙂

thank you for your feedback! There's no need to change anything in your setup if you already have OneAgent rolled out using the Linux installer, your setup is perfectly fine.
