Hi @coder33

You weren't wrong to be surprised, but seeing records while the state is still RUNNING can be expected. Those records should be treated as interim results until the query reaches SUCCEEDED.

This happense because the Grail polling endpoint (query:poll) has two modes:

Standard Mode(Behavior while RUNNING -No records returned until state = SUCCEEDED

Preview Mode (Behavior while RUNNING-Partial records can appear while still RUNNING

If you're seeing records during RUNNING, it's likely your initial query:execute request was sent with enablePreview: true either explicitly or via a client/SDK default.

Thanks,

Sujit

I am seeing "records" in the response from "apps.dynatrace.com/platform/storage/query/v1/query:poll" when the state is still RUNNING. I was not expecting to get any "records" until the state changed to SUCCEEDED. Does this sound right?

<LI-CODE lang="javascript">{"state":"RUNNING","progress":68,"ttlSeconds":78,"result":{"records":[{"timestamp":"2026-09-30T12:55:55.621000000Z","content":"Test log message ...</LI-CODE>
