Lag between log ingestion -> event extraction -> Event API ?

I'm experiencing different lag in Events extraction from logs. I have experienced this in a Managed environment, and it can be several seconds, but also above a minute, between when it's ingested in Logs, and then available in the Events API.

Has anyone an idea what factors might affect this lag, and how this latency can be optimized?

I cannot comment at the moment about lag, but in the past, I have seen that log events were ignored whenever the cluster exceeds the limit.
