How to TAG Synthetic Monitors with the location name

Abstract

Dynatrace Maintenance windows have filters like Tags Or Synthetic entities for HTTP and Browser monitors. However, there is no way to filter HTTP/ Browser Monitors by the name of the location from which they are being monitored.

Problem

There is no out of the box filter in the Maintenance Window configuration that can put synthetic monitors into maintenance based on their location. This can be resolved by tagging synthetic monitors with the location names and then using these location tags in the Maintenance Window configuration.

Resolution

Add an automatic tag using the entity selectors below for HTTP and Browser monitors on a particular location.

For Browser Monitors

type("SYNTHETIC_TEST"),fromRelationships.runsOn(type("SYNTHETIC_LOCATION"),customizedName("London"))

For HTTP Monitors

type("HTTP_CHECK"),fromRelationships.runsOn(type("SYNTHETIC_LOCATION"),customizedName("London"))
