Hi

Do we have any reference Document or steps that will explain to us how can we provide “read only access on all OIDs to a user” for the SNMP device

[@Abidyaseen](https://community.dynatrace.com/user/63100) - If I understood your question correctly, you might need to set a read-only community string on the device to read the OID’s via SNMP

Here are the steps for a Cisco device as an example

> **[Configurate SNMP on Router and Catalyst Switch - Configure SNMP Community...](https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/ip/simple-network-management-protocol-snmp/7282-12.html#toc-hId--946190164)**
>
> This procedure is the same for both routers and Cisco IOS® software-based XL Catalyst Switches. | This document describes how to configure Simple Network Management Protocol strings on Cisco routers, Route Switch Modules, and Catalyst switches.

It will be bit different if you are using SNMPv3

[https://community.cisco.com/t5/networking-knowledge-base/configuration-template-for-snmpv3/ta-p/4666450#toc-hId-937073458](https://community.cisco.com/t5/networking-knowledge-base/configuration-template-for-snmpv3/ta-p/4666450#toc-hId-937073458)

Hope this helps

Yeah, SNMP is just a protocol to make the data available. How to configure authentication etc… will depend on the particular technology/device.
