Do synthetic HTTP monitors honor HTTP\_PROXY configurations on Linux machines? Is it possible to get around the existing configuration?

Hi Antonio,

I have not tested out to see if the HTTP monitor will honor HTTP\_PROXY configuration by default. Hopefully someone else can answer that part; but I wanted to point you toward these documents that show you how to set proxy configurations on the activegates:

> **[Set up a proxy for private synthetic monitoring in Classic](https://docs.dynatrace.com/docs/observe/digital-experience/synthetic-monitoring/private-synthetic-locations/setting-up-proxy-for-private-synthetic)**
>
> Learn how to configure ActiveGate properties to set up a proxy for private synthetic monitoring.

> **[Proxy for ActiveGate](https://docs.dynatrace.com/docs/ingest-from/dynatrace-activegate/configuration/set-up-proxy-authentication-for-activegate)**

> Learn how to configure ActiveGate properties to set up a proxy.

Assuming you test the monitor and it does not use the linux HTTP\_PROXY config you will be able to set proxy configuration in the custom.properties file.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for pointing this out. Looking at it, and given that the default values are unset, I would believe the HTTP\_PROXY is really not being used…

I will probably be able to confirm this after a tcpdump test…

I have done the network traffic capture and can confirm that it is NOT using HTTP\_PROXY config in my case.
