We have installed dynatrace agent for a banking application. But have observed that the Log File Location for the dynatrace agent is shown as /tmp/dynaTrace/log/abc.log. Though when checked for the dynatrace installation, it is installed in the /opt folder and ideally the agent logs are created on the same path for example /opt/dynatrace-6.2/log/abc.log.
Actually the application server was restarted sometime back after which we could see one more dynatrace folder in server's tmp folder with the name dynaTrace in which logs are created and the modified date of the dynaTrace folder shows the same date as the restart date. Also we are not getting the appropriate purepaths, so we are thinking if the logs created in tmp folder has to do anything with the appropriate purepaths not getting created.
Suggestions required to solve the issue.
I would check the user and permissions to be sure that the same user is running the process after the restart as before, and the logs and session storage directories and files are writable by the running user.
as Dave already said, creating the log files in the /tmp folder is a fallback when the permissions to write to the <install_dir>/log folder are not sufficient.
however, there's no relation from writing the log file to the creation of PurePaths, whatsoever. so that would have to be for a different reason.
