Can we migrate dynatrace from 7.0 to 7.2 and then patching without restarting agents?

Hello,

we are going to migrate from dynatrace 7.0.28 to dynatrace 7.2, but because of this technical alert:

our customer has asked us to apply immediately DT Patch 7.2.5, without restarting agents for logistic reasons, is there any issue in doing this?

Will agents correctly update to version 7.2.5 when they will be restarted?

Agents will still work in 7.0 version so in my opinion you can upgrade and wait with restart for patch. Switching agent version is in general replacement of binary that is used so in such case order doesn't matter I think.

Hello @Simone N.

In the case of Classic Agents below is the correct order for Bootstrapped Web Server Agents.


  1. Restart the Web Server Agent Service and wait until it has reconnected.
  2. Restart the Web Server Agent.
