Confusion regarding "Excel" and "Excel 2007" Report filetypes


The "Excel" and "Excel 2007" output format names are a little confusing:

- "Excel": "Reporter which produces Excel XLS files for Microsoft Office '97-2007"

- "Excel 2007": Reporter which produces Excel XLSX files for Microsoft Office 2007 and newer

As a result, I've been using the "Excel" filetype because I thought it would generate a spreadsheet in the most recent Excel format. Can you please update the output titles to provide more clarity?

Thanks for sharing. I agree, perhaps it could be a little clearer what is the difference. Be sure to create an enhancement request in the ideas forum here so you can track the RFE, others can vote on it and product management can decide if it belongs on the roadmap.

Hi @Gary S., thanks for the suggestion! I've made a post in the ideas forum so hopefully the Report Creation names/descriptions will be improved in future releases.

the engineering just updated the names and default selection for the next dynatrace release to fix that confusion. thanks for bringing this up
