Creating SHA2 Certs for AppMon Web UI (6.5)

Hi guys,

Does anyone know if its possible to create SHA2 certs for the Web UI? I used the Wizard in Certificate Management to create a self-signed cert but it appears to use SHA1.

SHA1 is being deprecated and as a result, my client will not approve SHA1 certs to be signed for the Web UI.

We're on AppMon 6.5

Thank you,

Ari

Hi Ari,

The wizard uses the SHA-2 (512) hash function. However a shorter fingerprint is also generated using SHA-1. That is for easier handling and backwards compatibility (SHA-1 is still broadly used). Thats why you also see SHA-1 in the cert management overview.

Peter

So, the self-signed certificate that is created actually uses SHA-2? Or do I have to do something different for that?

Thanks,

Ari

Hi Ari,

yes it does. You don't have to do something in addition.

Peter

Great, this is what I was looking for. Thank you Peter!

Does this hold true for 6.3 also? Will 6.3 create a sha2 cert?
