Detecting when PMI measures are not returning

We have a scenario where the Websphere PMI interface is preventing Dyantrace from pulling metrics for certain JVMs which would then need to be restarted to recover.

I am trying to think of a way to detect this failure in Dynatrace - but cannot come up with a solution. Since the PMI based measure split by agent doesn't even have a split for that agent when it's broken I can't alert at a 0 threshold.

Any ideas?

That is probably the best option. the other one would be to create an incident on one of these PMI Measures and select "count" for the Condition Aggregation and a lower severe threshold of 0. In that case the incident will trigger in case we have not received any values for this measure in the given evaluation interval
