So this is the case: We are using Host Agents to monitor a couple of hundred servers. A subset of these servers are being rebooted / patched every night.
How can I disable the Availability Mails for these servers most effectively?
You can create incident downtimes on the incidents dashlet. Right click or open up the details pane and right click. This will allow you to select downtimes per system profile and incident. You can black out all alerts for that incident rule and profile.
As I'm not aware of any other delineation, I'd suggest putting in incident rules by host group (so availability might now have 5 availability incident rules (one for each group)). If you're doing rolling updates per host group you can always just black out the alert for that group.
I have run into a similar situation in the past and was able to utilize the Extended Email Plugin's filtering option to disabled emails for particular hosts. Depending on the naming convention, you may be able to filter out all of them with one regex. I use the following regex to filter out hosts that should not receive emails, even when an incident is raised on the client:
Replace SERVER-NAME with the names of hosts that need to be excluded from the email, separating multiple with a pipe |
