Do i need to install collector on MQ hosts to populate the information on MQ Dashboards in Dynatrace?

I have downloaded the MQ fastpack & plugin, installed and created monitors for my MQ servers but still not been able to populate anything on my dashboard. What am I missing here? Do I need to install collector or do anything else to make it work?

Does anyone have step by step procedure for it because like its said in the other page that fastpack works out-of-the box but it does not work for me.

Hello Kishor,

You don't need to install host agent or collector on the MQ Host to get the statistics data.

Just check the following configuration which you can also find in the Configuration link:

  • The plugin can be run on any collector.
  • This monitor works for IBM MQ 7.0 and higher.
  • This monitor uses IBM PCF library to connect to the MQ Manager and collect the statistics.
  • In order for this plugin to work, ensure that SYSTEM.ADMIN.SVRCONN type channel is created on the MQ Manager. This is the channel that the MQ Manager would publish the statistics information.
  • To get the value of INT_LAST_GET and INT_LAST_PUT, please ensure that the real time monitoring of the queue is enabled. Please see the link below for more information: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SS3...
  • The list of cypher in the plugin allows only TLS v1 and not higher version.

Hi Kishor,

The MQ Fastpack and MQ Plugin is apparently obsolete now, and instead you should use the newer MQ Channel Monitor.

Obsolete:

Newer and Good To Use:

I used the new one the other day at a customer and found it works great.

I would not bother trying to adapt the FastPack dashboards to work with the new plugin. It seemed to be a lot of effort and not really worth the effort.

I found a dynamic measure matrix for each metric group worked nicely, along with the dashboard included on the page:
