ElasticSearch hardware recommendation

Hi,

Kindly help how to or is there any way to calculate the hardware requirement for Elastic Search in order to keep the data for 3 years and above from DynaTrace AppMon, the purpose of this ES is to streamline data from DynaTrace AppMon and exporting data from ES to Grafana. Thanks.

Regards,

Munawar

I dont' think we can recommend storage for ES. You should check out ES Discussion forum here.

The timeframe does not impact the sizing much, the important number is how many documents you are storing and their size.

The recommendation for sizing from
Elasticsearch itself is usually "it depends, you need to test", i.e. run with a
defined workload that should cover what you need initially, look at results/timings/... and continue from there.

Also you can use a strategy where you start out small and add more nodes/storage over time, which makes it easier to get started and expand as needed.
