Enable DT monitoring for Spring Boot apps running in embedded tomcat server

HI,

We are using Dynatrace Appmon 7.0.x for monitoring our apps. We are planning to add Spring boot with embedded tomcat in our tech stack. Can some one help me to understand the capability of AppMon to monitor these apps and embedded server? Also, How do i enable monitoring?

Thanks,

Harin

Hello Harin,

Below is an old post but answer to your question.

The following information is from the AppMon 7.0 release.

For Tomcat 7.x or later, it is recommend to configure environment variables in the setenv.bat or setenv.shscript located in CATALINA_BASE/bin or CATALINA_HOME/bin.
This file is not typically found in a default Tomcat-only installation and must be created manually, co-located with startup, (in bin). Be sure to place it in the right directory matching your installation type and OS.

HI Babar,

Thanks for your reply.

In Spring Boot apps, Tomcat server comes embedded. We won't be having any install directory as such.

Thanks,

Harin
