How does UEM ip address masking work?

wim_desmecht

When I specify an ip address for inclusion in UEM monitoring, the interface always returns this ip address with /32 appended. What does this mean exactly?

Wim.

Hello Wim,

It is asking you to provide the subset mask.

Is this Private IP or Public which you are excluding? If you know the information then you will have to put the IP with notation e.g. 1.2.3.4/8

Just check what is the exact subnet mask. Defaults are 8, 16, 24 and 32 for the IPv4

Babar

Hi Wim,

To add more context, the /32 is reducing the IP range to one, so it is specifying a single IP address.

This tool looks pretty handy for figuring out the mask(s) you would need for any given range of IPs:

http://www.ipaddressguide.com/cidr#range

It also has a nice, succinct definition of CIDR there.

Google CIDR for much more information that you would ever want on this topic...

HTH,
