How does the communication between the DynaTrace serer and the monitored systems work in detail?

Could you please help on the below two queries?

1. How does the communication between the DynaTrace serer and the monitored systems work in detail?
Which systems initiates a connection to which system? (Is it DynaTrace -> Application or vice versa?)

2. Will the server-only installation be sufficient?
Will we have to set up a different server for the Collector? Or should we run the full installer on one system?

Thanks in Advance

Thanks&Regards

Dynatrace is different product than appmon. Dynatrace doesn't have collector. There is extra component called activegate that is used in some cases (simplifing network configuration, compresing traffic etc) but in most cases you don't need it. You should prepare server for Dynatrace Managed ang be sure that 8443 (Acording to documentation: Dynatrace OneAgent only sends data outbound to Dynatrace Server—it doesn't open a listening port. Each monitored machine with Dynatrace OneAgent installed on it must access this port. This port must remain open.) port is open between OneAgent (your application server) and Dynatrace Managed server. There is also needed port 443 because it is used by oneagent to download updates from Dynatrace cluster.

You have also provide connection from server to Dynatrace servers according to documentation:

https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/deploy-dyna...

Dynatrace Managed server is sending healthchecks, downloading updates and validating license.

Sorry Sebastian. Instead of AppMon, I mentioned Dynatrace. We are getting new requirement to set up Dynatrace AppMon 7.1 on new application. So this question belongs to AppMon.

Could you please explain about the communication flow?

Thank you in advance
