How to simulate visits

alfredo_iglesia

Hello I recently monitored a simple application made by me with Spring Boot in Dynatrace AppMon. Is there any tool that allows me to simulate visits like the easyTravel demo?

Greetings!

Hello,

You have some informations of load test tools on this documentation :
https://www.dynatrace.com/support/help/integratio...

You can also simulate some visits with a synthetic monitor.

Mathieu

Hello Mathieu C.

Thank you for the answer, but I'm still a bit lost in terms of the steps I must follow, to generate for example 5 visits per minute. Do I have to implement testing?

To generate visits with synthetic monitor, do I have to install ActiveGate? because I can't find the executable.

I would like to know which is the simplest way.

Regards!

Hello Alfredo,

ActiveGate needs only for basic HTTP monitor on Dynatrace Saas/Managed.

You use Dynatrace AppMon or Dynatrace Saas/Managed ?

For Dynatrace Saas/Managed, you have Synthetic option in menu bar (Create a browser monitor, download Dynatrace Synthetic Recorder, and follow steps)

For AppMon, you can try to use URL Monitor (Edit System Profile > Monitors > Create URL Monitor)

https://www.dynatrace.com/support/doc/appmon/infrastructure-monitoring/monitors/url-monitor/

My simplest way is to create a script to do that.

Regards,

Mathieu

Hello Mathieu C.

First thanks for your time.

I'm using Appmon and a simple application made by me in Eclipse (and packaged in a .jar), consisting of a login (made with spring security)
and a simple CRUD. I've created two URL monitors but I haven't generated visits....I guess I'm doing something wrong...I'm sending you images

applogin.png.

appcrud.png.

url-monitor-i.png

url-monitor-ii.png

url-monitor-iii.png

visits.png

All the visits you can see in the Visits.png image are done by me manually.

Regards.

Hello Alfredo,

OK, it won't be working to generate visits because no possible to add a request header with Virtual user configuration 😞

No way to do this simple.

I advise you to see with Jmetter or Selenium tools.

Regards,

Mathieu

Hello Mathieu C.

A colleague helped me to automate the login with Selenium and thus increase the visitor counter.
Thank you!

I moved the question to the appmon Q&A form.

If you want to see visits, selenium is a good way to go.
