Srikar is totally right. In case one of the agents is not automatically upgrading after you restart the app you can check the agent log files. The only reason would be that the agent doesnt have the priviliges to save the newly downloaded agent on the local file system - but that is a rare case AFAIK
So i would disagree that restarting the agents updates the boot strap version. Restarting updates only the version itself and not the bootstrap.
Upgrading the bootstrap is a manual process, where you will effectively reinstall the agent entirely. When you restart the agent to upgrade, just the agent libraries are being upgraded, but the agent installation structure itself (bootstrap). This normally isn't a big deal, but you will be missing out on some features (like controlled agent rollout) and as of DT 7 bootstraps<6.0 will no longer be supported. Documentation on upgrading the bootstraps can be found here. https://community.dynatrace.com/community/display/DOCDT63/Upgrading+Bootstrap+Agents
Hi All, I'm having a question here.
I'm planning to upgrade my dynatrace from 22.214.171.1247 to 126.96.36.1990.
I have followed the steps mentioned in below article.
And i have an issue with step 5 there.
For this, do we need to restart our wedlogic manage servers manually? Cant we update dynatrace into latest version without restarting app (weblogic manage servers)?
Hello @Michael K.
Upgrading the Agents is recommended and required to receive updates. Restarting an agent here means usually to restart the instrumented application.
Have a look on the below link for more understanding.
